The Tale of Islam’s Most Renowned Scholar

A wealth of knowledge and respect surrounds the life of Imam Bukhari, one of Islam’s most renowned scholars. His name echoes throughout the Muslim world chiefly because of his monumental work, Sahih Bukhari—a collection that stands as a foundation in the study of Hadith. Born in Bukhara, in today’s Uzbekistan, Imam Bukhari faced great trials early in life, including being blind at birth. As a scholar with a rare photographic memory, he was uniquely suited to absorb and record a vast body of Hadith—covering the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (S).
